Jay-Z’s music streaming service TIDAL suffered a significant number of losses in 2015 but has since pulled up its socks through various enhancements and collaborations with new musicians.
Now in a brand new expansion move, mobile giant SPRINT have purchased a 33% stake in the platform. Described as an “unprecedented partnership” on Sprint’s website here, the collaboration will see exclusive TIDAL content only available to Spring customers. Jay-Z and partners will continue to run the company even with Spring having a 33% stake in the company.
Jay-Z says in a statement of the partnership: “Sprint shares our view of revolutionizing the creative industry to allow artists to connect directly with their fans and reach their fullest, shared potential. Marcelo (Sprint’s chief executive officer) understood our goal right away and together we are excited to bring Sprint’s 45 million customers an unmatched entertainment experience.” More news to come!
