20-year-old SPIDERMAN: HOMECOMING actors Zendaya and Tom Holland cover The Hollywood Reporter’s NEXT GEN issue which hits newsstands on November 18.
Zendaya talks about how she stays normal while other Disney stars have fallen off the tracks, saying: “Everybody’s normal. The only difference is they’re living out what would happen to a normal teenager in front of everybody, which is hard because you have people judging you before you even know who you are yet.” She also talks about the controversy surrounding an African American Mary Jane: “People are going to react over anything…But of course there’s going to be outrage over that because for some reason some people just aren’t ready. I’m like, ‘I don’t know what America you live in, but from what I see when I walk outside my streets of New York right now, I see lots of diversity and I see the real world and it’s beautiful, and that’s what should be reflected and that’s what is reflected so you’re just going to have to get over it.’”
Holland also had a lot of interesting topics of convo; on finding out he was cast in the SPIDERMAN movies via Instagram: “I was in my bed scrolling through Instagram. It had been about a month since my audition. And Marvel just posted a photo saying go to our website and find out who the next Spider-Man is. I went on the Marvel website on my computer and there it was: The new Spider-Man is Tom Holland. I went ballistic, like absolutely nuts.” For more click here.
