Hold onto your wigs, folks, because Nicole Scherzinger just threw some major shade at her former girl group, the Pussycat Dolls! In her new solo song, “Freedom,” the singer made it crystal clear that she’s no longer willing to be anyone’s puppet.
“I’m not that little doll you knew,” she sang, “She paid her dues, now she owns herself.” And if that wasn’t enough, she also sang, “Step aside, please, I’m through working for you. Was killing me to compromise. Bitch, I just woke up redefined.” Ouch, that’s gotta hurt!
But despite the drama with her former bandmates, Scherzinger still managed to rock the stage at Sydney WorldPride in Australia. She belted out some of the Pussycat Dolls’ greatest hits, including “Don’t Cha” and “When I Grow Up.” Talk about a true professional!
And if you thought “Freedom” was the last you’d hear from Scherzinger, think again. According to a Page Six source, the song is expected to be released later this year. “I don’t think it’s going to be a gay pop anthem; I know it will be,” she told the Daily Telegraph’s Confidential. We can’t wait to hear it!
But as for the Pussycat Dolls, well, their reunion tour may be canceled, but the drama is far from over. Their founder, Robin Antin, is currently suing Scherzinger for breach of contract. And as if that weren’t enough, a Los Angeles judge recently delayed a status conference to March 2024. Looks like we’ll be getting our popcorn ready for a while!
