A CHANGE.org petition has been started to replace the State of Louisiana’s Confederate statues with ones honoring “an actual Louisiana hero and influential[sic] human being, BRITNEY SPEARS!”
The petition which is directed to Governor John Edwards amongst other lawmakers, states: “Before becoming one of the world’s most important and influential pop legends, Britney Spears was living life in a small southern town by the name of Kentwood, Louisiana. She’s already earned her star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, and now it’s time for her home state to honor her with the tribute that she deserves.”
More than 28,000 people have signed the petition which highlights many of the contributions Speas has made to the state of Louisiana. She’s donated to those affected by Hurricane Katrina, and has been an “inspiration to millions…by not only overcoming highly publicized mental breakdown, but by continuously working towards improving herself.” One signatory writes on the petition: “She is the TRUE hero of the South!” and another: “I’m signing because I can.” Sign the CHANGHE.ORG petition here and let us know: DO YOU WANT A BRITNEY SPEARS STATUE IN YOUR TOWN TOO?!
