35-year-old ‘A Woman’s Worth’ singer Alicia Keys sung and spoke alongside Janelle Monae (31) at today’s Women’s march in Washington, DC.
Keys and Monae were speaking and performing for thousands of people, with Keys singing ‘Girl on Fire’ and saying to the crowds: “We will not allow our bodies to be owned and controlled by men in government, or men anywhere for that matter. We will not allow our compassionate souls to get stepped on. We want the best for all Americans. No hate, no bigotry, no Muslim registry. We value education, health care and equality.”
Monae proceeded with her own commentary and sung her song ‘Hell You Talmbout’ which also happens to be a protest song! Monae was joined by the mothers of victims from police-related and other unjust deaths. Watch below:
