81-year-old President Joe Biden has pulled out of the 2024 presidential race faster than you can say “cognitive health.” Over the weekend, Biden decided that running for office again was about as appealing as a root canal, so he’s officially passed the torch (and probably his reading glasses) to his trusty sidekick, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Biden, ever the poet, penned a heartfelt message to his fellow Democrats, saying, “Listen up, my fellow Democrats! I’m bowing out of the race to focus on my current gig as President. You know, the one I got back in 2020 when I made the brilliant decision to pick Kamala Harris as my VP. Seriously, it’s been my best move since switching to decaf.”
With the grace of a seasoned performer making a dramatic exit, Biden declared, “Kamala’s got my full support. Democrats, it’s time to unite and show Trump who’s boss. Let’s do this thing!”
Now, the spotlight shifts to the woman of the hour: Vice President Kamala Harris. While she’s the frontrunner in this political relay race, it’s up to the Democratic delegates to decide if she’ll get the official party nod.
So, mark your calendars for the Democratic National Convention from August 19-22, where the delegates will cast their votes and we’ll see if Kamala’s bid for the presidency gets a standing ovation or a plot twist worthy of a soap opera. Stay tuned!
My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best… pic.twitter.com/x8DnvuImJV
