Kansas City Chiefs fans are in full-blown panic mode (probably somewhere between “dropped a plate of nachos” and “accidentally deleted fantasy league draft”) over whether Travis Kelce is about to call it quits on the NFL.
Rumors have been swirling harder than a Patrick Mahomes sidearm throw about the 35-year-old football superstar’s future. Some thought he might ride off into the sunset (or, more realistically, onto a yacht with Taylor Swift) if the Chiefs had won the 2025 Super Bowl. You know, the classic “win big and retire while everyone still loves you” move.
BUT… plot twist! Since the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl, the big question remains: Will Travis retire, or will he keep running routes and collecting rings (both Super Bowl and relationship-related)?
Insider Intel: Travis Ain’t Done Yet! (Probably.)
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, who spilled the tea on The Rich Eisen Show, there’s a strong sense that Travis isn’t done trucking defenders just yet.
“I can just tell you from talking to some NFL guys, no one’s saying, ‘Yeah, he’s really torn up about this,’” she explained. Translation: Travis isn’t dramatically staring out a window, whispering, “Is it time?” Nope. He’s still got that “Let’s go!” energy.
Of course, things could change. Maybe he wakes up one morning and realizes he’d rather spend his days hosting reality shows, golfing, and perfecting his “boyfriend of the year” status. But for now, the Chiefs seem confident that he’s not packing up his locker anytime soon.
Follow the Money, Baby!
If you want a sign that Kelce is sticking around, look no further than March 14, when he’s due to receive an $11.5 million roster bonus. You don’t just walk away from an $11.5 million check. You frame it. You throw a party for it. You buy an island and name it “Touchdown Town.”
So, for now, Chiefs Kingdom can breathe a small sigh of relief. It looks like Travis Kelce will be back for another season of catching passes, dodging defenders, and giving Swifties yet another reason to tune into football.
Stay tuned. The only thing more unpredictable than Travis’ future is the next time Mahomes throws a pass with his left hand for absolutely no reason.
