Matthew Knowles has officially entered the chat— and let’s just say, he did not come to play when it comes to his grandbabies.
So, here’s what went down: Kanye West, known for both his musical genius and his ability to say absolutely anything at any time, hopped on X (formerly Twitter, for those still adjusting) and decided to get real weird about Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s 7-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir Carter.
In a now-vanished tweet (because even Kanye knows when he’s gone too far—sometimes), Ye wrote, “WAIT HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN JAY Z AND BEYONCES YOUNGER KIDS” before spiraling into a bizarre and offensive rant about their intelligence. Yes, really.
Enter Matthew Knowles, a man who has been dealing with Beyoncé-level excellence for decades and has zero patience for nonsense. When asked about Kanye’s comments, the 73-year-old music exec hit back with:
“People pay a price for being stupid, especially in the music industry.”
Translation: Kanye, your bill is due.
Matthew also threw in some concerned elder energy, saying, “I’m hopeful Kanye gets the type of help he needs, in terms of mental health.” Which, in grandparent terms, is the equivalent of saying, “Bless his heart.”
Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, kept things classy but reportedly also had a little something to say. And if history tells us anything, it’s this: You do not want to get on the wrong side of the Knowles family.
Moral of the story? Messing with the Carter kids is like playing Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable” backwards—it’s just not a good idea.
