Robbie Williams, the man who gave us Angels and an eternal excuse to bust out jazz hands, has come clean about why he turned down the gig of a lifetimeβperforming at King Charlesβ coronation. Spoiler alert: It wasnβt because he couldnβt find his crown polish.
The 50-year-old British singer (and part-time cheeky monkey) is currently on a whirlwind press tour for Better Man, his upcoming movie musical. In true Robbie fashion, he spilled the tea during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live.
But wait, thereβs more! Robbie and his equally fabulous wife, Ayda Field, also struck some regal poses at the Empire State Building on January 14. (When you skip the Kingβs party, you might as well hang out at New Yorkβs iconic tower instead. Makes sense, right?)
So, why did Robbie skip out on serenading the newly crowned King Charles? Drumroll, pleaseβ¦
βThere was a reason,β Robbie confessed, channeling his inner James Bond-level intrigue. βI was working. I got something I couldnβt turn down because of money.β
Money! Glorious, shiny, in-your-face cash. Itβs the same stuff that makes the world go roundβand apparently makes Robbie miss out on tea with royalty.
Andy Cohen, ever the master of witty one-liners, chimed in with, βAnd contracts.β Yes, Andy, we all know you never break up with your wallet.
Robbie Williams turned down the chance to sing at a coronation because he was too busy being Better Manβliterally. Watch the full interview below for all the juicy bits, but donβt blame us if you suddenly crave a Robbie playlist marathon.
Moral of the story: Even kings canβt compete with a paycheck. Sorry, Charles.
