MrBeast just handed out the biggest game show prize in history on his Prime Video reality competition series Beast Games—because apparently, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? was just too low-stakes for him.
1,000 contestants entered the ultimate chaos arena, all chasing a jaw-dropping $5 million prize—only for MrBeast to pull an Oprah and yell, “YOU GET $10 MILLION!” (Okay, he didn’t really say that, but the prize was doubled to $10 million, so close enough.) Week by week, hopeful players used their brains, brawn, and sheer desperation to claw their way to the top. But there was one unbreakable rule: No deals, no alliances, and definitely no Venmo-ing your buddy after the fact.
Winner Spills the Tea (But Not the Money)
Gage Gallagher, aka Player 947 (which sounds like a rejected Squid Game character), took home the grand prize. And now, he’s letting us in on some juicy behind-the-scenes secrets.
In a chat on the Iced Coffee Hour podcast (because apparently, spilling tea is overrated), Gage was asked why the final three contestants didn’t just do the obvious thing—agree to split the money and walk away equally rich, but slightly less stressed.
Well, turns out that wasn’t an option.
“There was no negotiation. It was in our contract that we weren’t allowed to,” Gage spilled. “And during certain challenges, they’d basically remind us like, ‘Hey, just so you know, no secret handshakes, no pinky promises, and definitely no “I’ll PayPal you later” deals.’”
So even if the final three wanted to channel their inner Robin Hood and share the riches, they were legally bound to fight to the death (figuratively speaking, of course).
No Generosity Allowed—Even After the Show
And if you’re thinking, “Okay, but what if he just happened to gift someone a suspiciously large sum of money post-show?” Well, MrBeast was way ahead of that.
“There’s some pretty severe clawbacks in the agreement if they find that someone is splitting after the fact,” Gage revealed. Translation: If you try to share, they’ll take it back faster than your grandma snatching a $20 bill out of your hand when she realizes she gave you too much.
Beast Games was less “friendly competition” and more every person for themselves, Hunger Games style. But hey, at least Gage walked away with a cool $10 million and a really wild story to tell at parties.
