Troye Sivan Loses to Charli XCX at the Grammys, But Manages to Survive (Barely)

Buy Me A Coffee

Troye Sivan showed up to the 2025 Grammy Awards looking like a sheer, ethereal fashion prince, ready to snatch trophies and turn heads. The 29-year-old singer strutted onto the red carpet at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles (yes, we’re still calling it that) on Sunday (February 2), dressed in what can only be described as “Prada but make it cloud-like.”

Accompanied by his longtime bestie and collaborator Leland, Troye was nominated for Best Dance Pop Recording for their bop “Got Me Started.” And while he made history as the only person to be nominated in this category two years in a row AND the only man in the mix, the Recording Academy said, “Cute, but no.”

Instead, the Grammy went to his equally iconic friend and collaborator, Charli XCX, for her song “Von Dutch.” (Fashionably ironic, considering Troye was out here in full-on Prada.)

So how did Troye react to this crushing, soul-shattering, life-altering defeat? With the grace of a true pop star who has media training down to an art form.

“I already lost… I lost to Charli XCX. It’s okay,” he told ET, possibly blinking back one single, perfectly timed tear for dramatic effect. “I’m so happy for her. This is like the best night of my life.” Narrator: It was unclear if he meant that.

Troye then added, “But, um, no. I mean, honestly, to be nominated, it’s like… three-year-old me? This is what I wanted for as long as I could remember. So, it’s really nice.” Ah yes, the classic “I’m just happy to be here” speech. Respect.

Now, let’s talk about that outfit. Troye stepped onto the carpet in a Prada periwinkle silk organza suit that looked like it was spun from the dreams of fashionable angels. He paired it with a silk organza shirt (because more sheer is always better), a purple crepe de chine scarf (fancy), and black brushed leather lace-ups (because even the most ethereal looks need a little grounding). And of course, he accessorized with David Yurman jewelry, because even when you lose, you gotta sparkle.

So while Troye may not have gone home with a Grammy, he left the building with an A+ in vibes, a solid media-trained response, and a sheer look that will live in our minds rent-free. And honestly? That’s a win in itself.
