Mandy Moore, queen of soulful TV cries and catchy pop tunes, has recently shared that she’s battling a heavy case of “survivor’s guilt.” Why? Because while the Eaton fire in Los Angeles went all “Game of Thrones” on her neighborhood, her main house pulled a Houdini and survived—kind of.
The 40-year-old actress took to Instagram (the celebrity town square) to post photos of her fire-dodging house and the fiery devastation surrounding it. Spoiler alert: It’s not exactly HGTV-ready anymore.
The Great Escape (but Not Really)
Mandy and her husband Taylor Goldsmith’s Altadena property decided to split the difference. The main house? Standing tall-ish. The garage, back house, and music studio? Roasted to a crisp.
“We hiked up to our street and saw the wreckage,” Mandy wrote. “Somehow, the main house is still there. But it’s like the most expensive camping tent ever—unlivable but intact-ish.”
A Pyromaniac’s Bingo Card
The flames decided to play favorites with Taylor and Griffin’s music studio. “Every instrument, every piece of equipment—gone. Poof. Like a cruel magic trick,” Mandy lamented. “We lost our garage, our back house, and basically every shred of normalcy. Also, everyone we know? Total barbecue situation. Every house on the street is gone—my in-laws, my brother- and sister-in-law, our best friends. Everyone.”
But wait, there’s more! Mandy’s brother- and sister-in-law, who are mere weeks away from welcoming their first baby, also lost their home. “Talk about a dramatic entrance for the kid. Baby’s not even born yet, and they’re already a survivor.”
Altadena Strong(er Than Coffee)
Despite the apocalypse vibes, Mandy’s got her community’s back. “We love this neighborhood and will help rebuild it with whatever we’ve got left—probably charred marshmallows and some duct tape.” She also thanked everyone for checking in on her and offering support, adding, “Altadena Strong, y’all!”
Clapback Queen of the Fires
Because the internet never takes a day off, Mandy had to handle a few trolls criticizing her for sharing a GoFundMe for her brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
“Listen up, Keyboard Warriors,” Mandy fired back. “First of all, WE are helping our family. Second, do not believe the random ‘Mandy Moore’s Net Worth’ articles you read online. Third, we also just lost most of our stuff. And fourth, kindly F OFF. Nobody’s forcing you to do anything.” Mic drop.
Fire and Fame
Unfortunately, Mandy’s not the only celeb dealing with this fire drama. Her This Is Us co-star Milo Ventimiglia also lost his home in Malibu. Turns out, life loves throwing plot twists at these TV stars, even off-screen.
So here’s to Mandy Moore—holding her ground, supporting her people, and reminding everyone that even when life’s a literal dumpster fire, she’s got the time and energy to roast her haters.
