Ms. Lauryn Hill has finally decided to spill the beans about why she ghosted her U.S. tour.
On Tuesday (August 6), word came out that the 49-year-old Grammy-winning superstar had decided to cancel the North American leg of her highly anticipated *The Miseducation Anniversary Tour* with her legendary hip-hop crew, the Fugees. This plot twist came just days before their first show, which was supposed to be on Friday, August 9.
At first, the reason behind the cancellation was as mysterious as the secret recipe for Coca-Cola. But never fear, Lauryn took to Instagram the next day to clear up the mystery.
She started off with, “It was a tough call, but we had to hit the brakes on our North American tour dates. But don’t fret, the UK and Europe shows are still happening, so get your passports ready!”
Lauryn then took a moment to explain the mess. “Last year, I had an injury that made us reschedule some shows. Unfortunately, some media outlets decided to turn this into a juicy headline story that scared off ticket buyers for the U.S. leg of the tour. It’s like a bad game of telephone where the message got completely twisted!”
She continued, “The folks in the UK and Europe haven’t just been deprived of my Miseducation Anniversary performance; they’ve also been missing out on seeing the Fugees together again after a 25-year hiatus! Talk about an epic reunion!”
The UK leg of the tour is now set to start on October 7, 2024, in Dublin, Ireland. So, dust off your shamrocks and get ready!
Lauryn wrapped up her Instagram post with a heartfelt note: “Performing for you all is like a giant emotional hug. Each show is a slice of my soul, and believe me, nobody’s more bummed about missing out on the U.S. shows than I am.”
She added, “I’m super thankful for those who support my art. I fight tooth and nail to bring you shows that matter. Can’t wait to rock out with you!”
Lauryn ended with a warm “Thanks for understanding. We’re pumped for the UK and European dates in October — and for my North American fans, we’ll be back with a vengeance when everything calms down. Much love and respect, MLH.”
Oh, and by the way, Apple Music just crowned Lauryn’s *The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill* as the No. 1 Best Album. Because obviously.
