‘Stranger Things’ Prequel Play ‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’ Is Heading To Broadway

Buy Me A Coffee

Hold onto your Eggo waffles! Stranger Things: The First Shadow is ditching the Upside Down and making its way to the bright lights of Broadway!

This award-winning stage play is the prequel to your favorite Netflix binge-fest and has already been making Londoners lose their tea in excitement since its debut in November 2023.

Here’s the lowdown: “Picture Hawkins in 1959. It’s your typical town with typical problems—Jim Hopper’s car has the mechanical skills of a potato, Bob Newby’s sister thinks his radio show is a prank call, and Joyce Maldonado is counting the days until she can flee to anywhere with a better Wi-Fi signal. Enter Henry Creel, the new kid on the block. Spoiler alert: moving isn’t as easy as it looks, and it turns out, shadows are the clingy exes of the supernatural world.”

Written by Kate Trefry and directed by Stephen Daldry with a dash of Justin Martin’s co-direction magic, this play promises to be more thrilling than a Demogorgon in a disco.

The show’s Broadway debut is set for March 28, 2025, with the grand opening party scheduled for April 22, 2025.
