Selena Gomez, the wizard of career versatility, is dropping hints about her future plans, and brace yourselves because retirement is in the air… sort of.
The 31-year-old maestro who first graced our screens as a Disney Channel actress has pulled off career acrobatics that would make even the most skilled circus performer jealous. From acting to music (with a playlist of hit singles and albums) and even launching her own makeup brand, Rare Beauty – Selena has been juggling more balls than a clown in a three-ring circus.
In a recent interview on the SmartLess podcast, Selena spilled the beans about a potentially seismic shift in her professional life. Hold on to your Mickey Mouse ears!
She confessed to being tantalized by the idea of “finding something to just settle on” career-wise (via Deadline). Translation: she’s contemplating throwing music overboard.
“I started having a lot of fun with music, and then touring was really fun. But I was doing my TV show at the same time [Wizards of Waverly Place], and I just found it really fun so I just kept going,” she shared about the inception of her multifaceted career. Talk about juggling acts – who knew being a wizard and a pop sensation could go hand in hand?
Selena gave a nod to Disney for kickstarting her music career in a not-so-direct way. “Disney is, it’s safe to say, a machine and, in a way, forcefully require that I know how to sing so I could sing the theme song [of a show],” she explained. Looks like Disney’s magic also includes turning budding actors into unexpected chart-toppers.
“I wanted to be an actress; I never really intended on being a singer full-time, but apparently that hobby turned into something else,” she confessed. It’s like accidentally discovering you have a secret talent for juggling chainsaws while trying to make a PB&J sandwich.
Selena hinted at a plot twist in her career saga. Drumroll, please!
“I do feel like I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting,” she declared. Move over, pop charts, it’s time for the silver screen to take center stage.
So, buckle up, because Selena Gomez might be trading in her microphone for a script, and who knows, we might soon see her dazzling us on screen while casting spells and delivering punchlines. Wizards of Waverly Place: The Sequel, anyone?
