Guess who made a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance at the 2024 Met Gala? None other than the fabulous Sarah Jessica Parker! The iconic star strutted onto the carpet with her partner-in-crime, Andy Cohen, and then poof, she was gone!
Now, you might be thinking, “Wait, why the hasty exit?” Well, hold onto your hats, because it’s all because of her outfit. Sarah, bless her heart, showed up in a get-up so spectacularly outlandish that sitting down became a Herculean task. “I couldn’t sit,” she confessed to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager the next day. “Literally couldn’t sit.”
So, what was this gravity-defying ensemble, you ask? Picture this: a sheer dress by Richard Quinn that probably doubled as a satellite dish, complete with a hoop skirt and enough crystals to make a chandelier jealous. The sheer audacity!
But fear not, Sarah might have missed out on dinner and Ariana Grande’s performance, but she didn’t let her lack of seating options dampen her Met Gala experience. Oh no, she made sure to swing by the exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and boy, did she have thoughts. “It is the most unforgettable, glorious exhibition,” she raved, probably still in awe of all the glitter and glam.
Now, here’s a juicy little nugget for you: despite her larger-than-life persona on screen, our girl Sarah confessed to being a tad shy. “I’ve never been good at a big party,” she admitted. “I’m always afraid. I’m always nervous. If you tell me a dinner party with 12 people, I’m first to arrive. But a big party—and everybody’s so famous.” Oh, Sarah, we feel you. Who knew even the queen of the city that never sleeps could get a case of the jitters?
