But fear not, for Madonna made a comeback more triumphant than a hero in a cheesy action movie! She conquered the stage once more, wrapping up her tour with a final, record-smashing concert in Brazil this May.
On the Fourth of July, Madonna got all sentimental and looked back on her epic journey from the land of hospital gowns to the land of glitter and stardom.
Taking to Instagram, the pop icon shared a gallery of fresh photos along with a caption brimming with gratitude and fireworks.
“A year ago today, I had just escaped the hospital after surviving a showdown with a life-threatening illness. I could barely stand in my backyard, clutching one lonely sparkler,” she wrote. “But I made a miraculous recovery and had an awesome year. Thank you, God. Life is beautiful! ♥️🧨🔥”
