Liam Payne’s Friend & Two Others Escape Legal Drama Faster Than a One Direction Reunion

Three people—including Liam Payne’s buddy Roger Nores—just had their charges dropped faster than a bad album review.

ICYMI, the former One Direction heartthrob tragically passed away in October 2024 while vacationing in Argentina. Naturally, authorities went full detective mode and charged five people in December, including four hotel staff members. The charges ranged from manslaughter to “allegedly supplying Liam with enough party favors to make a rockstar blush.”

Roger, on the other hand, was hit with a “negligent homicide” charge, basically accusing him of not playing bodyguard for Liam 24/7.

Argentina’s Court of Appeals Enters the Chat
On February 20, Rolling Stone reported that Roger and two hotel employees had been officially let off the hook. The judges ruled that Roger wasn’t a superhero who could have stopped Liam’s passing.

Their ruling was basically: Sure, maybe if Roger had been glued to Liam’s side like a stage-five clinger, things could’ve gone differently. But let’s be real—people who want to party will find a way, even under family lockdown.

The judges also side-eyed the prosecution for ignoring the fact that Roger did send an email raising concerns about Liam’s health. So, yeah, the whole “why didn’t he say anything?!” argument? Not holding up too well.

Meanwhile, Two Defendants Are Still Stuck in Legal Limbo
While Roger is packing his bags for the UK to finally say goodbye to his friend, Ezequiel Pereyra and Braian Paiz are still in prison, possibly wondering why life didn’t come with a skip button.

Liam’s estate could appeal the ruling, but it’s unclear if they will. In the meantime, Roger is just relieved this legal rollercoaster is over, stating, “Glad this is finally over. Now I can finally travel home and properly say goodbye to my friend.”

And with that, another legal chapter closes. If only getting out of jury duty was this easy.
