Leah Remini and her husband of more than two decades, Angelo Pagan, are calling it quits after 28 long, wild years of coupledom! That’s right, the celeb duo is hanging up their marriage hats, dusting off their divorce shoes, and sashaying into single life with the grace of two people who’ve probably already changed their Netflix passwords.
The couple, who have been together since the distant year of 1996—back when people still used dial-up internet and pagers (ask your parents)—have announced they are parting ways. Cue the dramatic music and the collective gasp of a thousand reality TV show producers.
Leah took to Instagram, because where else do you announce these things nowadays? “Well, here we are,” she began, presumably while sipping a glass of wine and staring at the ‘newly single’ section of Bumble. “After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we’ve decided it’s time to hit the eject button on this love boat.”
She continued, “We thought about this for a long time, we talked about it, and as much as divorce sucks—seriously, who invented this thing?—we’re looking at it with a positive outlook, like, ‘Yay, new beginnings!’ (And more bathroom counter space.) It’s what’s best for us.”
Leah confessed they are, in fact, “sad.” (I mean, who wouldn’t be after dividing up 28 years of Netflix recommendations?) But they’re committed to figuring it out, navigating their new normal—together… but also apart. It’s kind of like when you’re in the same room but on separate couches, only now there’s paperwork involved.
“But here’s the kicker,” Leah added. “We’re still besties! We’ll keep doing all the holiday things together, binging our favorite shows, and gathering as a family.” Yep, you heard that right. Just because they’re divorcing doesn’t mean they’re giving up on TV night. Because nothing says, “We’re amicably splitting” like sharing snacks during a rewatch of Friends.
And if you’re wondering what brought them to this decision, Leah spilled the beans: “People change! The roles we were playing in this marriage just didn’t fit anymore. It’s like trying to squeeze into your favorite jeans from high school—eventually, you have to admit it’s time for something new. So here we are, stepping into a future that reflects who we are today. Also, I really wanted the bigger closet space, and this was the only way.”
Despite the split, they’ll still be in each other’s lives, whether they like it or not. Leah and Angelo first locked eyes in 1996 (cue the cheesy rom-com music) and tied the knot in 2003, back when flip phones were still cool. They share a 20-year-old daughter, Sofia Bella, and Angelo brings three sons to the party from a previous relationship, because, why stop at one family when you can have two?
Another celebrity couple bites the dust, but in the chillest way possible. Who needs drama when you can divorce and still fight over which series to binge next?
