Jake Gyllenhaal has officially agreed to star in a movie that sounds like someone pulled a rom-com script out of a blender mid-mix. And guess what? The minds behind this chaotic masterpiece are none other than M. Night “Plot Twist” Shyamalan and Nicholas “Tears on Every Page” Sparks.
Yes, you read that right. The guy who made you question reality in The Sixth Sense is teaming up with the guy who made you sob uncontrollably during The Notebook. What could possibly go wrong? (Or right? Honestly, who even knows anymore?)
Love, Ghosts, and Plot Twists—Oh My!
Described as a “supernatural romantic thriller,” this film promises to be a rollercoaster of emotions, where you’ll probably fall in love with a character only to find out they’ve been a ghost the whole time, or that the couple was actually the same person in a time loop. Classic Shyamalan.
And here’s the kicker: Shyamalan and Sparks are each writing their own version of the story—M. Night is working on a screenplay, while Nicholas is crafting a novel. So now we’ll have two different ways to emotionally damage ourselves when this thing drops.
What Else Do We Know?
Well… almost nothing. Everything is being kept so secret that even the ghosts in this movie are probably under NDAs. But one thing is certain: there will be feelings, there will be twists, and at some point, you’ll probably question all your life choices.
In case you forgot, Nicholas Sparks’ latest book Counting Miracles dropped in 2024, and M. Night Shyamalan’s last film Trap was a fun little flick about a serial killer going to a concert with his daughter, only to realize the entire event is a setup to catch him. (Father-daughter bonding at its finest.)
