Actor Armie Hammer is finally breaking his silence about those eyebrow-raising accusations that he’s a cannibal.
The 37-year-old actor, who has also been accused of sexual assault, firmly denies any criminal wrongdoing. But, hey, let’s talk about the juicy bits—cannibalism!
Armie recently spilled his guts (not literally) on the Painful Lessons podcast, discussing how he really feels now that a few years have marinated these bizarre claims.
“Whatever people said, whatever happened, I’m now in a place in my life where I’m grateful for every single bit of it,” he shared, sounding like someone who’s just finished a really good therapy session. “I’m actually now at a place where I’m really grateful for it because where I was in my life before all of that stuff happened to me, I didn’t feel good. I never felt satisfied.”
Translation: Before this cannibalism fiasco, he wasn’t exactly loving life. “I never had enough, I never was in a place where I was happy with myself where I had self-esteem,” he added. “I never knew how to give myself love. I never knew how to give myself self-validation but I had this job where I was able to get it from so many people that I never had to learn how to give it to myself.”
Who needs self-love when you’ve got fans? Just kidding. Armie’s been on a journey.
In fact, he’s now in a 12-step program. Yes, even Hollywood stars need a little help sometimes. He also talked about how all the wild accusations took a serious toll on his mental health, to the point where he even contemplated taking his own life. Heavy stuff, right?
Armie Hammer: actor, alleged cannibal, and a man on the mend. Let’s all take a moment to chew on that.
