Kelly Rowland struts back onto the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, giving everyone a second helping of glam just a day after making headlines for a spicy showdown.
The 43-year-old songbird, who graced Cannes for the first time yesterday, had a little run-in with a security guard who apparently mistook her gown for a welcome mat.
Fast forward to Wednesday (May 22), and Kelly’s back in action for the premiere of *The Count of Monte Cristo*, looking like an absolute vision in a white gown, probably thinking, “Let’s hope today’s drama stays in the movie.”
The internet, being the internet, quickly got its hands on the video of Kelly’s red carpet kerfuffle. Thanks to the eagle-eyed work of a lip reader, we now have a pretty good idea of what went down.
So, the scene: our girl Kelly is making her grand ascent when the security guard decides to make an unplanned cameo by stepping on her dress. Kelly, ever the queen, responds with a polite “Don’t worry.”
But hold on to your popcorn, because it seems the guard had something sassy to say back. Kelly, channeling her inner diva, fires back, “Don’t talk to me like that. Don’t talk to me like that. You’re not my mother. I told you not to talk to me like that.” And just like that, she wins the unofficial award for Best Dialogue on a Red Carpet.
The lip reading wizardry, courtesy of expert Jeremy Freeman and delivered to Page Six, gives us all the juicy details. Who knew the Cannes red carpet came with such unexpected drama?
