Glen Powell, the Hollywood heartthrob who’s had us all swooning, is ditching Tinseltown for the Lone Star State. Yes, you heard that right. The 35-year-old actor, known for his dazzling smile and dashing good looks, has sold his Hollywood Hills pad and is swapping it for some good ol’ Texas BBQ.
After 15 years of rubbing elbows with the who’s who of Hollywood, Glen has decided he’s had enough of La La Land. So, what’s next on his cowboy-boot-wearing agenda?
“Finally making it in Hollywood means I can finally get out of Hollywood,” Glen spilled to The Hollywood Reporter, with a sigh of relief that could be heard from Rodeo Drive to the Rio Grande. “It’s like I’ve unlocked the ultimate achievement: the right to retreat to my roots.”
What’s drawing Glen back to Texas? Well, besides the promise of brisket and wide-open spaces, he’s planning on finishing his degree at the University of Texas in Austin. Yes, our man is going back to school! And don’t worry, he’s not hanging up his acting hat just yet. The move was inspired by none other than the bongo-playing, chest-thumping sage, Matthew McConaughey.
“Matthew’s always dropping these wisdom bombs,” Glen shared. “He told me, ‘Hollywood is the Matrix, man. You plug in and it’s all a fake world.’ Then he said, ‘I go to Austin and I unplug. It’s all real there. Those are my friends, that’s my family, and my actions matter.’ And I thought, heck, if it’s good enough for McConaughey, it’s good enough for me!”
And so, with those profound words ringing in his ears, Glen has packed up and bought a house just 30 minutes from his parents. This new abode will be his home base, even if his jet-setting career keeps him on the move.
So, keep an eye out, Texas. Glen Powell is back, and he’s bringing a little slice of Hollywood with him. And who knows? Maybe he’ll be the next star of a local rodeo. Yeehaw!
