Chris Pine Comments On Whether He’ll Return For ‘The Princess Diaries 3’

So, Chris Pine—yes, the guy who made hearts swoon as Nicholas Deveraux in The Princess Diaries 2—was put on the royal hot seat recently. Apparently, everyone wants to know if he’s planning on reprising his role in The Princess Diaries 3. Because, you know, once you’ve played a prince, people kinda expect you to keep the crown forever.

In case you’ve been living under a non-regal rock, the franchise’s Queen Bee, Anne Hathaway, aka Mia Thermopolis, the princess with a hairbrush and a tiara, has already confirmed she’s coming back for more Genovian shenanigans. Naturally, fans are demanding to know if the rest of the gang—Julie Andrews and Chris Pine—will also return. Julie, of course, played the world’s classiest grandma (and Queen), and Chris? Well, he was the charming guy who somehow made falling into fountains look hot in Princess Diaries 2.

So, what does Chris Pine have to say about all this royal rumoring? Did he whip out a crown and start practicing his royal wave on live TV? Not quite.

When he appeared on the Today show, the ever-curious duo of Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager grilled him on whether he’s going to hop back on the royal carriage. And Chris? Well, let’s just say he didn’t exactly spill the royal tea.

“I don’t know anything!” Chris declared, likely dodging imaginary crowns being tossed his way. “Call Disney. Call Bob Iger. I don’t know anything about it.”

Translation: Even if Chris was going to suit up in regal attire, he’s playing it so close to the chest that even Disney’s top executives would need a magnifying glass to see a clue. Or maybe he’s just waiting for a royal invitation to land in his inbox, complete with a scroll and wax seal. Until then, the mystery of whether Nicholas Deveraux will once again sweep Mia off her feet (and maybe into another fountain) remains unsolved.

Chris knows nothing, the fans know nothing, and Disney probably knows everything, but they’re too busy counting their castle money to tell us. Stay tuned for more updates from the Kingdom of Who-Knows-What!
