Charlie Puth is having a major “Swiftie” moment and he’s shouting it out to the world ahead of his new single’s release.
The 32-year-old crooner hopped onto social media to send a big, melodious thank you to none other than Taylor Swift, who gave him a lyrical nod in her latest album “The Tortured Poets Department.”
In the second verse of the album’s title track, Taylor sings, “We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist,” which has left Charlie feeling all the feels.
Now, while hyping up his soon-to-drop song “Hero,” Charlie decided to spill the beans about its inspiration and gave a heartfelt (and a bit gushy) shoutout to Taylor for nudging him to unleash this tune on the world.
“My new song HERO is about seeing someone you care about making a mess of their life and feeling powerless to stop it,” Charlie spilled on Instagram. “Writing this track was tougher than trying to eat soup with a fork, but I wrote it hoping it would resonate with anyone who’s been through something similar. It’s like that missing puzzle piece you’ve been hunting for under the couch.”
Charlie then went on to say, “This song is a bit of a wild card for me—totally different vibe. Big thanks to @taylorswift for making me realize I couldn’t let this one gather dust on my hard drive any longer. HERO is all yours on May 24th and here’s the single artwork. Seriously, thanks to all my fans—you guys are like the marshmallows in my hot cocoa.”
Get ready, world. Charlie Puth’s “Hero” is about to swoop in and save your playlist!
