Chappell Roan Yee-Haws Her Way Into Country With “The Giver” – And No, She’s Not Making a Country Album (Yet? Maybe? Who Knows? She’s Just Vibing.)

Buy Me A Coffee

Chappell Roan just yee’d her last haw and gave us a brand-new country anthem (kind of, but also not really, but definitely yes).

The 27-year-old Grammy-winning, pink-haired, glitter-covered musical tornado blessed our ears on Thursday night (March 13) with “The Giver”, her first new single in almost a year. If your memory is as short as a TikTok trend cycle, her last release was the viral, heartbreak-anthem-that-made-us-all-dance “Good Luck Babe!”

If you’re thinking, “Wait, didn’t I hear this already?” Congratulations! You watched Saturday Night Live! Chappell first performed “The Giver” during her musical guest spot back in November, and now it’s finally out for us mere mortals to replay obsessively.

Chappell Roan: Country Girl at Heart (But Also Just Here to Twirl)
In a heartfelt statement (read: the most Chappell Roan statement ever), she spilled the sweet tea on her deep love for country music:

“I have such a special place in my heart for country music. I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus and had it swirling around me at bonfires, grocery stores, and karaoke bars.”

(Translation: Country music raised her like an auntie with a deep-fried accent.)

But before anyone starts printing “Chappell Roan – Country Queen” t-shirts, she’s got some clarification:

“Many people have asked if this means I’m making a country album???”

Her official response? edit

“Right now, I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun, and ‘The Giver’ is my take on c-ntry xoxo. May the classic country divas lead their genre, I am just here to twirl and do a little gay yodel for y’all.”

A gay yodel??? Dolly Parton is somewhere nodding in approval.

Where to Stream and How to Yodel Along
If you want to bask in the twangy, glittery, Chappell-Roan-ified country goodness of “The Giver”, you can stream it everywhere that sells or plays music (aka Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Pandora, iTunes, and probably blasting from the speakers of a honky-tonk somewhere in Nashville).

Go listen, go twirl, and go practice your gay yodel. 🎤✨
