Alexis Ohanian, the 41-year-old entrepreneur and Serena Williams’ better half, took to the virtual town square (formerly known as Twitter) to spill the beans about his latest health saga. Brace yourselves: he’s been diagnosed with Lyme disease.
After running through a jungle of health scans and tests, Alexis emerged with the wild news. “I’ve got Lyme disease! No symptoms, thankfully, but it’s time for some medical magic. Oh, and my good cholesterol decided to play hooky while the bad cholesterol is just hanging around, being mediocre. But hey, check out my testosterone levels – they’re off the charts!” Alexis quipped on his X account.
He shared his surprise journey, reminiscing about a loved one who went through the Lyme limbo with a buffet of symptoms before finally nailing the diagnosis. “I barely step foot in the wilderness or the Northeast, so this is a real head-scratcher,” he mused. Alexis also humorously warned his followers to seek medical advice from professionals, and definitely not from a tech mogul dabbling in diagnosis.
For those scratching their heads about Lyme disease, the CDC describes it as a bacterial villain spread by the bite of blacklegged ticks. Symptoms can range from fever and headaches to fatigue and a distinctive skin rash known as erythema migrans. If left unchecked, this pesky infection can throw a party in your joints, heart, and nervous system.
Alexis now joins the VIP Lyme Disease Club, rubbing elbows with other famous members like Yolanda, Bella, and Anwar Hadid, Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, Shania Twain, Ben Stiller, Kelly Osbourne, and Alec Baldwin.
In happier news, Alexis was spotted just last week at the 2024 ESPY Awards, glowing on the red carpet with Serena and their utterly adorable daughter Olympia. Because even Lyme disease can’t stop this dynamic duo from shining bright.
Doing a full battery of health scans, tests, etc, and found out I have lyme disease. Wild. No symptoms, thankfully, but gonna treat. Good cholesterol is too low. Bad cholesterol is just OK. Gotta work on that. On the plus-side: 822 ng/dL total + 162 ng/dL free testosterone.
