Zoe Kravitz is here to talk about Big Little Lies! Or, you know… kind of. Maybe. In the vaguest way possible.
It’s been a whopping five years since the second season of HBO’s glamorous guilt-trip premiered, back when we were still pretending we understood the plot beyond “Wow, Monterey looks nice.” Fast forward to late 2023, and Nicole Kidman’s casually dropping hints like, “Oh yeah, another season? Sure, why not?” You know, as one does when they’re a living legend who doesn’t *need* the job but will absolutely nail it anyway.
Then, in walks Reese Witherspoon earlier this year, confidently confirming season 3 like she just invented time travel. “It’s coming!” she proclaimed, presumably while baking a pie and running a billion-dollar media empire. As one does.
And now we turn to Zoe Kravitz. Our girl Zoe, 35 and aging like a fine vegan latte, has blessed us with an update! Well, sort of. Brace yourselves: “I’m waiting to see, like everybody else, the third season that’s happening … waiting by the phone, waiting for the script to be done,” she told People. That’s right, she’s waiting by the phone like it’s prom night and she just got ghosted.
To sum it up, Zoe’s basically got the same amount of info as your neighbor who swears they once saw Nicole Kidman at Whole Foods. Does she know anything about the plot? The drama? The fashion? Nope! Absolutely nothing. But you know what? She’s excited to do it. And if Zoe’s excited, we’re excited. Even if all she knows is that the series exists. Somewhere. Out there.
For those needing a refresher, season 1 of Big Little Lies premiered back in 2017 (which feels like three lifetimes ago) and introduced us to a bunch of rich moms in Monterey, California, battling personal demons while looking fabulous. Reese, Nicole, Zoe, Shailene Woodley, and Laura Dern slayed every episode. Then, in season 2 (February 2019), Meryl Streep descended from the heavens like, “Hello, darlings. I’m here to make this show even more iconic.” Naturally, she did just that.
So, here we are. Season 3 is coming. When? Who knows. What happens? Your guess is as good as Zoe’s. But hey, at least we’re all in this suspenseful, beautifully dressed boat together. Stay tuned!
