Wendy Williams’ son, Kevin Hunter Jr., has delivered a rare update on the former talk show queen—and, honey, it’s equal parts hopeful and heart-wrenching.
Let’s rewind to November: Wendy’s guardian dropped some heavy paperwork in court, stating that the 60-year-old TV icon is “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated” due to early-onset dementia. (Translation: life’s been no hot topic for Wendy lately.)
Fast forward to last week, though, and Wendy was spotted out and about, celebrating Kevin’s college graduation in Florida like a proud mama bear. She looked happy, healthy, and ready to cheer louder than a studio audience.
The real drama unfolded Monday (December 23) on Instagram. Charlamagne Tha God, Wendy’s ex-radio co-host and professional pot-stirrer, posted a reel showing Wendy glowing and laughing with family. In true Charlamagne fashion, his caption was both heartfelt and borderline preachy:
“This makes me feel ancient. Congrats @topfloor_kev for graduating from @fiuinstagram with a degree in Economics. Next stop law school!!! Keep God First, Stay Humble, and Keep Working Young Man!!! We Truly Thank GOD for it ALL!!!”
(We get it, Charlamagne. You’ve read Chicken Soup for the Soul.)
But the real mic drop came from Kevin Jr. in the comments. First, he thanked Charlamagne for the love:
“Thank you fam! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Let’s get her home 🤞🏽”
Then came the update that had everyone clutching their pearls:
“While I’m here, quick update on my mom. She’s sober and wants to come home,” he wrote. “We’re fighting to make that happen because isolation is killing her faster than anything else.”
Whew, talk about an emotional rollercoaster.
For those who missed the memo, Wendy’s been under legal guardianship since 2022, which means her life has been more locked down than Fort Knox. Earlier this year, sources claimed her family was practically ghosted by her guardian, with contact being “largely denied.”
So, what’s next for Wendy? Hopefully, a reunion with her loved ones, some quality time with her son, and maybe even a return to spilling tea—because the world could always use a little more Wendy sass.
Stay tuned, because this story has more twists than a daytime soap opera.
