Sad news, Hollywood legend Val Kilmer has taken his final bow at the age of 65. His daughter revealed that he had been battling pneumonia, and the world is now a little less cool without him.
But leave it to Val to go out in style. One of his last Instagram posts is making the rounds, and it’s peak Batman Forever energy.
In the post, dated February 23, 2025, Val was seen goofing around with artist David Choe while rocking a version of his classic Batman mask. Yes, the same kind of mask he wore in Batman Forever back in 1995. And if you don’t remember Batman Forever, congratulations—you’re either very young or your brain has just done you a solid by blocking out 90s neon Gotham.
Kilmer was the guy back in the day. His Hollywood résumé is basically a “cool dude starter pack”: Top Gun (yes, he was Iceman), Willow (fantasy nerds, rise up), Tombstone (where he made being a cowboy look ridiculously awesome), Heat (where he held his own with De Niro and Pacino), and so many more. And let’s not forget his voice work as Moses in The Prince of Egypt, because not everyone can pull off “Old Testament Icon” and “Caped Crusader” in one lifetime.
The world will miss Val’s talent, humor, and ability to make literally anything look cool. Sending all the love to his family and friends. And if you happen to have a Batman mask lying around, wear it in his honor today.
