Trailer For ‘Saturday Night’ Reveals The 90 Minutes Before The Premiere Episode Of ‘Saturday Night Live’ In 1975

Buy Me A Coffee

The very first trailer for *Saturday Night*, the film about the birth of NBC’s legendary SNL, has just crashed onto the internet like a pie in the face!

This blockbuster features a comedy cast so massive it makes the Avengers look like a garage band. We’ve got Gabriel LaBelle channeling Lorne Michaels, the man with the dream and the beard. Cooper Hoffman is strutting his stuff as NBC exec Dick Ebersol, who apparently was born with a clipboard in one hand and a dream in the other.

The lineup is like a comedy buffet: Dylan O’Brien is Dan Aykroyd, Lamorne Morris is Garrett Morris, Cory Michael Smith is Chevy Chase (probably making everyone laugh with just his name). Then we’ve got Matt Wood as John Belushi (who probably had a few donuts on set), Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner (ready to tickle your funny bone), Emily Fairn as Laraine Newman, and Kim Matula as Jane Curtin (yep, that’s a whole lot of funny going on).

And that’s not all! Willem Dafoe is David Tebet (seriously, how does he do it?), Nicholas Braun is Jim Henson (prepare for puppets and pratfalls), Matthew Rhys is George Carlin (expect profound wisdom and sarcasm), Kaia Gerber is Jacqueline Carlin (who knew there was a model for that?), J.K. Simmons is Milton Berle (now that’s a legend), Jon Batiste is Billy Preston (bringing the groove), Andrew Barth Feldman is Neil Levy, Naomi McPherson is Janis Ian (strumming some tunes), and Finn Wolfhard is…wait for it…an NBC page! Who knew being a page could be so star-studded?

The film is directed by Jason Reitman and penned by Reitman & Gil Kenan. It’s a whirlwind 90 minutes on October 11, 1975, when a wild gang of comedy geniuses decided to shake up TV forever. The story is a hilarious mix of chaos, magic, and near-disaster as we countdown to that iconic moment when SNL first graced our screens with its genius.
