The Good Doctor is bidding us adieu on ABC this year! Yep, you heard it right – the medical drama is about to flatline after its seventh and final season, set to kick off on February 20.
Freddie Highmore, the genius behind Dr. Shaun Murphy’s character since the dawn of time (well, since season one, but who’s counting?), poured his heart out in a statement, saying, “Playing Dr. Shaun Murphy has been like winning the lottery but with more surgical gloves. It’s been an immense privilege, and honestly, I now know more about being a doctor than my Google search history would suggest. Big thanks to David, Liz, Erin, and the whole gang – you guys made this show happen. Caring deeply is our superpower. And to Sony and ABC, cheers! Here’s to saving lives on screen and celebrating with tequila, stat!”
Meanwhile, the dynamic trio of co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman and executive producer Erin Gunn chimed in, “The Good Doctor has been like that unforgettable rollercoaster ride – exhilarating, occasionally stomach-churning, and full of unexpected medical jargon. But, alas, all good things must come to an end. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, and now it’s time to bid adieu. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing fans, the spectacular Freddie Highmore, the rest of our talented actors (and friends), and the unsung heroes behind the scenes. Let’s wrap this up in style! Thank you, Sony; thank you, ABC; thank you all – you’re the real MVPs.”
