Hollywood, you had one job. ONE JOB. And you blew it.
Shannen Doherty, the iconic queen of ‘90s TV, was somehow left out of the 2025 Oscars’ In Memoriam segment, and her fans (and probably a few ghosts in the Dolby Theatre) were NOT having it.
Let’s rewind: Shannen, beloved star of Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed, passed away on July 14, 2024, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 53 and had spent more time in Hollywood than some of these fresh-faced nominees have spent on Earth.
So, imagine the shock when Sunday night’s tearjerker tribute played, and… no Shannen?! Nada. Not even a casual mention. Somewhere in the afterlife, she’s probably side-eyeing the Academy harder than Brenda Walsh did at literally everyone in West Beverly.
Her longtime rep didn’t hold back, telling IconicHipster.com that the omission was “really disappointing,” because, you know, she was kind of a big deal for, oh, 45 years. You’d think that might warrant a quick montage moment, right?
And get this—Shannen wasn’t the only star to get ghosted by the Academy this year. A whole list of late celebs mysteriously went missing from the tribute, leading fans to wonder if the Oscars just decided to go full Men in Black and erase their memories.
Oscars, honey, do better. Or at least send Brenda Walsh a formal apology before she starts haunting your teleprompter.
