Shakira just set the 2025 Grammys on fire (metaphorically, but also, was that stage smoking a little?). The 48-year-old ageless Colombian queen strutted onto the Crypto.com Arena stage in Los Angeles and basically reminded everyone why she’s been ruling the music game longer than most TikTok trends last.
Draped in a golden, glittering bra that probably cost more than my rent and a fringe skirt that shimmied in ways most human bodies cannot, Shakira made sure all eyes (and hips) were on her. Then, because she’s legally required to outdo herself at every performance, she quick-changed into a bodysuit faster than you can say Hips Don’t Lie.
What did she perform, you ask?
Oh, just a mind-blowing medley of “Ojos Así” (a song older than Gen Z but still a banger) and “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”, aka the song that turned her ex into a worldwide punchline. Somewhere, Gerard Piqué probably dropped his phone mid-scroll.
But wait, there’s more!
Shakira also won Best Latin Pop Album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (translation: “Women Don’t Cry Anymore”—they just drop fire albums instead). And it’s her birthday! Yes, the woman literally celebrated her 48th year on Earth by collecting awards and flexing on the entire industry. Your fave could never.
In case you missed it…
The Grammys aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+, so if you weren’t watching, what were you even doing? Also, Trevor Noah is back hosting for the fifth time, probably because the Recording Academy is too afraid to find someone else.
Long story short: Shakira won, the stage lost, and our wigs are somewhere in orbit.
