Sandra Oh & Steven Yeun Reunite Like Long-Lost Superheroes at ‘Invincible’ Season 3 Premiere

Buy Me A Coffee

If hugs could save the world, Sandra Oh and Steven Yeun just secured world peace. The dynamic duo, also known as your favorite animated mother-son duo in serious superhero trouble, reunited at the season three premiere of Invincible at The Culver Theater on Monday (February 3) in Culver City, Calif.

Sandra, the 53-year-old powerhouse of talent, and Steven, the 41-year-old literally always playing a character in distress, lead the voice cast of the hit animated series. In case you’ve been living under a rock (or just dodging Prime Video recommendations), Invincible is based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley. Spoiler alert: it’s animated, but the emotional damage is real.

But wait, there’s more! Also gracing the red carpet were fellow voice-acting legends Gillian Jacobs (yes, the one from Community), Jason Mantzoukas (who probably yelled at someone at some point), Khary Payton (King Ezekiel, but make it cartoons), and Jay Pharoah (who was likely doing celebrity impressions as he arrived).

The Plot Thickens (And So Do the Emotional Scars)
For those still catching up, Invincible follows 19-year-old Mark Grayson (Yeun), a regular teenager who discovers he’s inherited his dad’s slightly problematic superpowers. But instead of just flying around impressing people at parties, Mark quickly learns that superhero life is actually more of a full-time nightmare. As he grapples with existential crises, daddy issues, and villains who do NOT believe in fair fights, Mark must decide how far he’s willing to go to protect the people he loves. (Hint: really, really far).

When, Where, And How to Emotionally Prepare
Season three of Invincible is set to premiere THIS Thursday (February 6) with the first three episodes dropping like a surprise punch from Omni-Man. After that, new episodes will arrive weekly until March 13th, giving fans just enough time to recover emotionally before getting wrecked again.

Oh, and if you haven’t seen the trailer yet—seriously, what are you doing? Go watch it. Immediately.

Fashion Report: Superhero Chic
FYI: Sandra Oh showed up looking like a fashion superhero in a stunning Huishan Zhang dress. Meanwhile, Steven Yeun rocked “I am a cool, casual guy with deep emotions” vibes, which honestly is very on-brand for him.
