Ryan Reynolds is reminiscing about the legendary cameo by Taylor Swift’s cats in Deadpool 2. Yes, you read that right—Taylor Swift’s cats! In case you missed it, back in the 2018 sequel, the “Love Story” crooner’s two furry overlords, Olivia and Meredith, graced one of Wade Wilson’s shirts, sported by none other than the 47-year-old king of snark himself.
In a new interview while promoting Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan joked about the “legal cat-astrophe” that followed. “Oh yeah, I was totally sued by Taylor for using her cats in the movie,” he said, probably with his trademark smirk plastered on his face.
“Yes, I had a T-shirt made. Yes, it had Meredith and Olivia on it. Because, you know, why not make the Merc with a Mouth a little more feline-friendly?” Ryan quipped during the SiriusXM’s Town Hall chat. “Just tiny details, nothing major. No biggie.”
Host Jess Cagle, probably trying to hold back laughter, asked, “So, did you have to call Taylor and get the royal paw-seal of approval for using her cats?”
“Nope, I was sued,” Ryan shot back, deadpan. “I lost everything in that one. And let me tell you, getting sued by a friend is a real whisker-twitcher.”
“And, man, she’s got some seriously powerful lawyers,” he added, eyes wide in mock horror. “I found out later those were just the paralegals. The real lawyers didn’t even bother to show up. It was like being mauled by a herd of legal lions.”
“But, you know, I’d never actually do such a thing without Taylor’s permission,” Ryan quickly clarified, probably winking at the camera.
Obviously, there’s no catty drama between Ryan and Taylor. Despite the whole “legal” ordeal, the two remain purrfectly good friends.
