Prince Harry, the world’s most famous redheaded royal exile, reportedly lost a charity venue for Sentebale – the organization he just quit – all because he wanted to roll in with a Netflix camera crew like it was an episode of Keeping Up with the Sussexes.
According to Dr. Sophie Chandauka, chairperson of Sentebale (and now unofficial spokesperson for Royal Shenanigans Weekly), everything was going fine until Harry rang up the team with an idea that can only be described as “very Hollywood.”
The Call That Changed Everything
“About a month before the event, Prince Harry called and was like, ‘Hey team, quick thing – I’m filming a Netflix show, and I’d love to bring a camera crew along. No biggie, right?’” Dr. Chandauka recalled in an interview with the UK’s Sky News.
Cue the internal panic.
The team, seemingly caught in the headlights of royal celebrity drama, immediately started “doing the things” (whatever that means). But Dr. Chandauka, the voice of reason, shut that down real fast.
“You can’t just do the things without asking the venue owners, the sponsors, and, I don’t know, the actual guests if they’re cool with starring in an unscripted royal reality show,” she said.
Unfortunately, when they did ask, the venue owner basically said, “Oh, so now this is a Netflix production? Cool, here’s a new very expensive contract.” And since Sentebale’s budget does not include Hollywood blockbuster rates, they had to say goodbye to the venue.
The Backup Plan: Chaotic at Best
In a plot twist worthy of The Crown, Harry did manage to secure another venue for the event in April 2024, which was great—except for the fact that nobody was prepared for it.
Dr. Chandauka described the scene as absolute chaos:
“We had too many people on stage. The choreography was a mess. The international press zoomed in on every awkward moment, and suddenly the Duchess was in the headlines—again.”
Then things got even more awkward.
According to Chandauka, Harry asked her to publicly defend Meghan, because the internet was losing its mind over whether she should have been on stage or not. Dr. Chandauka declined, explaining, “It’s not that I don’t care about the Duchess, but I know how this game works. Also, Sentebale is a charity, not a Sussex PR firm.”
Harry’s Exit: Less Mic Drop, More Drama
In a move that no one saw coming (sarcasm), Prince Harry and his co-founder quit the charity last week, but not before dropping a statement that basically roasted the current leadership.
Dr. Chandauka called it “an attack” and “bullying at scale,” while a source close to Harry’s team said, “Nah, that’s completely false.”
So now, both sides are engaged in a royal charity breakup spat, and the world is once again reminded that even in philanthropy, drama always finds a way.
