Porsha Williams is officially speaking out after her estranged husband, Simon Guobadia, found himself in an exclusive, all-expenses-paid staycation at Stewart Detention Center, courtesy of ICE.
Word hit the streets on Friday (Feb. 21) that Simon, 60, who originally hails from Nigeria, is now enjoying some involuntary government hospitality in Lumpkin, Georgia. U.S. Department of Homeland Security spilled the tea, of course—confirming Simon’s new living arrangements.
Never one to stay silent for long, Porsha, 43, jumped on Instagram to address the situation, but in the classiest way possible (read: with just the right amount of shade).
“It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome,” the Real Housewives of Atlanta star wrote, casually reminding us that he is, in fact, estranged. “At this moment, my priority is moving forward with my family. 🙏🏾” Translation? New man pending, don’t ask me nothing else.
Simon’s legal drama comes just as former President Donald Trump dusted off his old mass deportation agenda, signing it back into effect last month like it was a Real Housewives reunion contract.
Now, let’s talk about Simon’s immigration history, because, whew, it’s got more twists than a Scandal episode:
– He arrived in the U.S. from Nigeria in 1982.
– Overstayed his visa in 1985, got labeled “deportable” (red flag No. 1).
– Came back in 1986, overstayed again (red flag No. 2).
– Got arrested in 1987 for bank and credit card fraud.
– Got arrested two more times, leading to a VIP deportation back to Nigeria in 1992.
– Somehow returned A MONTH LATER (Sir, how?!), then applied for U.S. naturalization in 2016—only to get denied.
Despite all of this, Simon was unbothered. Last year, Atlanta Black Star reported that his residency applications kept getting rejected like a bad Tinder match. But did that stop him? Nope. Instead, he hit the ‘Gram with a cigar in one hand, steering a golf cart with the other, and captioned his post:
“Happy Tuesday to all who ever overcame and persevered in life. You are winning👌🏾👌🏾#42yearsLivinginAmerica.”
(Simon… you sure?)
Now, in case you forgot, Porsha and Simon got married in November 2022 in a wedding that probably had a bigger budget than most small countries. But just 15 months later, Porsha filed for divorce. Coincidence? Maybe. Perfect timing? Absolutely.
And while Simon figures out his next move—probably from the comfort of a government-issued cot—Porsha is out here “moving forward”, and if we know Porsha, that likely means moving right along to the next chapter (or the next fine millionaire).
Stay tuned, because you know this story isn’t over. 🍿
