Guess who’s ready to dust off his detective hat? Patrick “McDreamy” Dempsey! That’s right — the 58-year-old heartthrob from Grey’s Anatomy is in serious talks to make his way back to the Scream universe like he’s never left.

Now, let’s jog that memory in case you’ve been too busy dodging spooky Ghostfaces. Patrick last graced us with his presence in Scream 3 (aka, the year 2000 — yes, that long ago). He played Det. Mark Kincaid, the guy who snagged Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) as his bride. And just like that, he ghosted the franchise faster than Randy in the original movie.

But wait—there’s hope! On Today this past Thursday (October 24), Patrick spilled the tea. Well, more like hinted at the tea. “I’m waiting on the script,” he coyly said, probably twirling his curls like he does in every rom-com. “There has been a conversation about it. I haven’t seen anything yet, so we’ll see what happens.” Translation: “I’m in if the money is right, and if Ghostface doesn’t mess up my hair.”

And because he knows how to keep it real, Patrick hit us with a nugget of wisdom: “It’s always good to have a job.” Spoken like a true Hollywood veteran. Stay humble, McDreamy. We love that.

But the big question is: Will Sidney Prescott, aka Neve Campbell, also be back to dodge knives and jump scares? Oh, you bet! After sitting out Scream 6 (over, what else, a pay dispute), Neve has officially RSVP’d to Scream 7.

The dream team is getting back together! Guy Busick is handling the writing for this new installment, and Kevin Williamson — the genius behind Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 4 — will direct. Which basically means we’re all in for a nostalgic ride filled with twists, masks, and meta horror goodness.

Mark your calendars! Scream 7 is slated to slash its way into theaters on February 27, 2026. So, you’ve got time to prep: re-watch the entire franchise, stock up on popcorn, and practice screaming into pillows so your neighbors don’t call the cops.

The real question is… will McDreamy survive this time? Or is Ghostface ready to add another notch to the knife? Only time (and the script) will tell. 🎃🔪
