Nicole Kidman has officially declared 2025 the Year of Doing Absolutely Nothing.
The 57-year-old Hollywood queen—who has been collecting acting credits like Pokémon cards—just revealed at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas, that she is clocking out for the rest of the year.
“I was EVERYWHERE last year,” she told THR, probably while sipping an oat milk latte and mentally booking a vacation. “This year, I have Holland and Nine Perfect Strangers, and then… I’m off. So… oh well!”
That’s right—after gracing our screens in Expats, A Family Affair, The Perfect Couple, and Lioness Season 2, Nicole is finally allowing herself a break. Honestly, we love that for her.
But First, One Last Mystery
Nicole’s latest project, Holland, just premiered at SXSW. In this one, she plays a teacher in a tiny Midwestern town (weirdly named Michigan?) who starts side-eyeing her husband (Matthew Macfadyen) after suspecting he’s got some double-life shenanigans going on. Naturally, she ropes in her bestie (Gael García Bernal), and together, they uncover a dark and twisted secret. (I mean, it wouldn’t be a Nicole Kidman movie if there wasn’t a dramatic gasp moment, right?)
Masha Is Back, Baby!
Before she officially enters hibernation mode, Nicole will also return as Masha Dmitrichenko in Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2. Which means more cryptic wellness guru wisdom, terrifyingly calm speeches, and that fabulous Russian accent we all love.
