Melissa Joan Hart recently spilled the tea about her friendship with Britney Spears, and it’s got all the nostalgia feels. Their paths crossed back in the day when Melissa made a cameo in Britney’s “(You Drive Me) Crazy” music video. Ah, the ’90s—a time of butterfly clips, chokers, and questionable fashion choices!
In a juicy new interview, Melissa dished on their wild times together and dropped a bombshell about something she still feels super guilty about. Grab your popcorn!
“Britney and I did tons of press together. And let me tell you, we had an absolute blast!” Melissa shared with ET, probably while reminiscing about their synchronized dance moves and late-night giggles.
But here’s the kicker: Britney was “never able to break free” from her entourage of handlers, so Melissa took it upon herself to give the then-17-year-old pop star a taste of freedom. And how, you ask? By sneaking her into nightclubs, of course!
“I was basically a club queen back then—dancing the night away and living my best life. But I knew when to pump the brakes,” Melissa said, probably while doing the Macarena in her head. “Britney was underage, but I thought, ‘What the heck, let’s hit the dance floor and have some fun!’ And boy, do I feel guilty about that now. I was supposed to be her big sister, not her party planner!”
Fast forward to the present: Melissa and Britney haven’t exactly been swapping friendship bracelets lately. Their contact has been minimal, but they did manage a quick reunion in Las Vegas. Melissa attended one of Britney’s residency shows and they shared “a quick hello backstage.” Ah, the awkwardness of a backstage meet-and-greet where you pretend you remember each other’s names.
