Kelly Clarkson is officially jingling all the way into the holiday season!
On Friday, September 27th, the queen of high notes and daytime TV, Kelly Clarkson, dropped a brand new holiday tune, “You for Christmas.” Yep, that’s right—Kelly isn’t asking Santa for gadgets, gizmos, or a lifetime supply of eggnog this year. Nope, she’s putting in a direct request to the big guy in red for one thing only: YOU. Talk about pressure!
In this emotional rollercoaster of festive feels, Kelly croons, “This time of year can be so hard / Searching for blessings in the dark.” If you’ve ever been elbow-deep in tangled Christmas lights while contemplating whether or not to burn down the tree, you get it. But fear not! Kelly has a solution. She continues, “If Santa has one gift to bring us / I’ll tell him I just want you for Christmas.” Bold move, Clarkson! You hear that, Santa? Forget the sleigh—it’s you she’s after.
Of course, this isn’t just any Christmas bop. Kelly brought out the big (musical) guns for this one, teaming up with not one, but TWO Grammy and Oscar-winning heavyweights, Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. You know, because why not add a little extra star power to the season of lights and carols? It’s like decking the halls with diamond-encrusted tinsel.
And this festive banger? It’s just the latest in Kelly’s sleigh full of holiday hits. She’s been serving up Yuletide jams for years, from her 2013 holiday album Wrapped in Red (which might as well have come wrapped with a bow) to 2021’s When Christmas Comes Around…, where she proved yet again that she’s basically Mrs. Claus with a microphone.
So, ready your mistletoe and crank up the volume, because Kelly Clarkson’s here to make sure your Christmas is filled with more joy than a kid who just found out they’re getting a pony.
