Keanu Reeves, aka “The Nicest Guy in Hollywood” (and now, apparently, Speed Racer), just leveled up in life—he’s officially a professional car racer! Yup, the man who gave us Neo, John Wick, and Ted from Bill & Ted’s, is now tearing it up on actual racetracks. Talk about career flexibility! Is there anything he can’t do?
On Saturday, October 5, Keanu, who, fun fact, is 60 and still has better hair than all of us combined, made his racing debut in the Toyota GR Cup at none other than the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana. It’s the kind of event where you imagine him whispering “I am the one” before starting his engine.
But even the mighty Keanu Reeves isn’t immune to the occasional oopsie. In true action hero style, during the race, our favorite ageless wonder had a bit of a mishap—he spun out! But did Keanu let that stop him? Heck no! With the grace of a man who’s dodged bullets in the Matrix, he hopped right back into gear, cruising across the finish line like a pro. Not in first place, but hey, he’s still winning in life.
According to reports from AP (probably by some journalist who wished they were half as cool as Keanu), he finished 25th. Out of 35 racers! But wait, there’s more! At one point, he was up to 21st place. Yes, ladies and gents, that’s Keanu going full throttle. You’ve got to admire a guy who can drop from nearly last to mid-pack, all while managing to look like he’s just taking a leisurely Sunday drive.
Thankfully, no injuries were sustained—neither to Keanu nor to the mystique that surrounds his every move. It was all smooth driving after the spin-out, as if he pressed a reset button like a good ol’ video game hero.
Oh, and for those wondering, his racing saga is not over yet. Keanu will be back out on the track this Sunday. Will he spin out again? Will he finish better than 25th? Will he bring a dog and avenge its honor after the race? The suspense is unbearable.
Now, let’s not forget this isn’t his first rodeo in the racing world. Keanu already has a victory under his belt—he once dominated the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, a celebrity race. Because of course, the man who can save the world multiple times can also drive really fast in a Toyota. Naturally.
Keanu’s officially a professional car racer. He spun, he sped, and he survived. And honestly, isn’t that just the most Keanu thing ever?
