Kate & Will Take Wales: Baking, Chatting & Totally NOT Being Famous

Buy Me A Coffee

Prince William and Princess Catherine (aka Kate Middleton, aka The Royal Real Deal) took a charming little jaunt to Wales on Wednesday (February 26), where they did everything in their power to not look like people who enjoy fame—despite, you know, the global headlines, the royal titles, and the fact that their faces are on approximately 12 billion souvenirs.

The dynamic duo’s Welsh adventure included a stop at Pontypridd Market, where they took a deep dive into the high-stakes world of Welsh cake-making. Yes, the future King and Queen of England rolled up their sleeves, grabbed some dough, and showed off their best Great British Bake Off impressions. Reports indicate zero soggy bottoms, but Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm.

Next, they meandered over to Meadow Street Community Garden and Woodland, where they probably had a wholesome chat about flowers, trees, and how refreshing it is to touch grass (a rarity in royal life, we assume).

But this wasn’t just a pastry-fueled field trip—Pontypridd was hit hard by floods in late 2024, so the royals also spent time speaking with locals about their experiences. We imagine it was equal parts heartwarming and Britishly understated.

Royal Fame? Never Heard of It.
Now, if you’re thinking, “Wow, these two sure love being in the spotlight,” hold that thought. Because according to a former royal aide, they absolutely, positively, 1000% do not care about fame. Nope. Not even a little.

Jason Knauf, former palace staffer and apparent fame-denial expert, spilled the tea to IconicHipster.com, saying:

“Neither of the prince or the princess would choose to be public figures… They’re not that interested in the fame and celebrity that comes with it.”

In other words, Kate and Will somehow landed the least fame-seeking royal gig ever—just casually being literal princess and future king of a country. No biggie.

Knauf also assured us that what you see is what you get:

“With both of these people, the prince and the princess, what you see is what you really get behind the scenes as well.”

Translation: No diva tantrums. No secret pop star alter egos. Just two royals, two aprons, and a mission to make Welsh cakes and small talk like the absolute pros they are.

Final Verdict? A+ for Effort.
So there you have it. A wholesome Welsh day out, some expertly flipped cakes, and yet another insistence that Kate & Will are simply not here for the fame. Whether you buy it or not, one thing’s for sure: Their public appearances do make for great headlines. 😏
