Kate Hudson has spoken—and the answer is a big, fat NO to a family reality show!
The 45-year-old actress, who will soon star in Netflix’s Running Point (a show all about family and legacy), was grilled about whether her own famous crew would ever let cameras into their chaotic, Hollywood-filled lives. And let’s be real—her family tree is stacked with star power. We’re talking about her musician fiancé Danny Fujikawa, legendary parents Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, and her actor brothers Oliver Hudson and Wyatt Russell. Basically, they’ve got more talent in their pinky fingers than most of us have in our entire existence.
But would they do reality TV? The answer is a resounding NOPE.
“It’ll never happen. It’ll never,” Kate told Entertainment Tonight, probably while dodging producers who were already sketching out a contract.
And the main reason? Kurt Russell is simply too cool for that nonsense.
“Listen, listen, my dad—he’s just too cool,” Kate explained. “Like, he’d rather just be in Colorado, just being dad. You know?”
We know, Kate. We really do. Kurt Russell is out there in a flannel shirt, chopping wood, sipping a strong cup of coffee, and laughing at the idea of participating in a “confessional” segment about family drama.
When asked if Kurt was the real hold-up, Kate didn’t hesitate. “Yeah, Snake Plissken doesn’t do reality.”
BOOM. Mic drop. Case closed. If you don’t know, Snake Plissken is Kurt’s character in Escape from New York, a man so hardcore that even the thought of participating in a reality show would probably make his eye patch burst into flames.
For context, plenty of famous families have given reality TV a go, including Sylvester Stallone, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, the Bradshaws, the Wahlbergs, the Jonas family, and even Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross. But clearly, the Hudson-Russell clan is not about that life.
Instead of reality TV, Kate has been busy doing classy, non-reality-TV things—like recently presenting an award at the Critics Choice Awards with her sister-in-law, Meredith Hagner. You know, normal Hollywood royalty things.
So, if you were hoping for Keeping Up with the Hudson-Russells, you’re out of luck. But on the bright side, you can still catch Kate being fabulous on Netflix. And Kurt? He’ll just be in Colorado, being cool.
