Kacey Musgraves wants y’all to know she was NOT giving Beyoncé the side-eye at the Grammys—despite what the internet detectives on Twitter (sorry, X) think.
After losing the Grammy for Best Country Album to Beyoncé, video footage of Kacey’s mildly neutral face went viral, sparking a wave of conspiracy theories. Suddenly, social media was convinced Kacey was plotting a full-scale country music coup against Queen Bey.
But hold your horses (literally, we’re in country territory here), because Kacey is having none of it.
Her rep told E! News, “It’s a sensationalistic false narrative meant to pit two talented female artists against each other. There was simply no scowl or expression made.” Translation: Y’all are reaching harder than a cowboy lassoing the moon.
For those keeping score at home, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter took home Best Country Album and Album of the Year, while Kacey’s Deeper Well did not. However, Kacey didn’t leave the Grammys empty-handed—she wrangled herself a win for Best Country Song with The Architect, beating out Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em.
There’s no beef, no shade, and absolutely no scowls—just two talented women slaying the music industry. Now, everybody go drink some water and touch some grass.
