Jennifer Lopez Surprises Drag Impersonator at The Abbey

Buy Me A Coffee

Jennifer Lopez, eternal slayer of stages and queen of turning heads, strutted into The Abbey’s Sunday Service drag brunch like she was about to drop the hottest mixtape of 2024, wrapped snugly in a fur coat that could double as a glamorous yeti costume. And West Hollywood collectively lost its mind.

Why, you ask? Well, brace yourselves, because the 54-year-old icon wasn’t just there for a casual Sunday outing; she was on a mission to support The Abbey and its fearless leader, David Cooley. Apparently, The Abbey is turning 33 this year, and JLo decided she couldn’t let this milestone go unnoticed. So, she rolled up her sleeves, or rather, her fur cuffs, and got behind the bar, slinging Delola cocktails like it was just another day in the glamorous life of Jenny from the block.

As if that wasn’t enough, the diva extraordinaire took center stage to celebrate not only The Abbey’s 33rd birthday bash but also her latest single, “Can’t Get Enough.” In a move that can only be described as the stuff dreams are made of, she surprised Jo Lopez, a drag queen who was rocking an uncanny replica of JLo’s iconic music video dress. Talk about inception-level fabulousness!

Jo Lopez, in a moment of brutal self-honesty, took to Instagram to spill the tea on the less glamorous side of being a JLo impersonator. “I have a crusty lace. I have an ugly scar on my chin. My facial hair is coming in. My makeup is oily. And that double chin… I look CRAZY,” Jo confessed. But hey, when you meet the queen herself, who cares about crusty lace or oily makeup? Certainly not Jo Lopez.

Once on the stage, JLo, accompanied by her agent Kevin Huvane, didn’t just bask in the glory of her own fabulousness. No, no. Instead, they showered David Cooley with love and appreciation, declaring him the unsung hero of the LGBTQ+ community for the past 33 years. In a touching moment, JLo said, “Congratulations. You have really brought this community together for so many years. It’s a beautiful thing, I really do appreciate it. And I know Kevin does too. Thank you.”
