Breaking news: Jennifer Lopez, aka JLo, aka Jenny from the Block, is putting the brakes on her media blitz. Why? Because Los Angeles is, quite literally, on fire. And no, this isn’t some Hollywood metaphor about her career—it’s about actual flames.
The 55-year-old superstar (who looks like she discovered the fountain of youth, bottled it, and sells it exclusively to herself) has officially canceled all her upcoming media appearances. The reason? A little thing called the Palisades Fire, which has been doing its best impression of a villain in a disaster movie. Spoiler alert: it’s winning.
From Red Carpets to Fire Alarms
Earlier this week, JLo was set to dazzle us all at the LA premiere of her new movie Unstoppable. But instead of rolling out the red carpet, they probably rolled out fire hoses because the blaze was getting a bit too unstoppable itself. So, the premiere was nixed faster than a bad first date.
As for next week’s promotional marathon? Also canceled. JLo was supposed to hit every talk show under the sun—Today, The View, Live with Kelly and Mark, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon—all to hype up her new movie, which is ironically named Unstoppable. Turns out, fire is the real unstoppable force here.
Why the Sudden Shift?
A “close source” spilled the tea (or maybe just texted People) about JLo’s decision. According to them, the actress-singer-dancer-fitness-guru-fountain-of-youth-owner decided to focus on the people of Los Angeles instead of doing the PR cha-cha.
“It’s important to her to focus on supporting the community of Los Angeles during this very difficult time,” the source said, probably while waving a fan dramatically.
What Now?
Instead of dazzling us on TV next week, JLo will be staying put in LA, presumably with a bedazzled fire extinguisher in one hand and a donation check in the other. Meanwhile, her movie Unstoppable will still drop on Prime Video on January 16—no fire can stop that release.
So, while JLo might be hitting pause on her promo schedule, she’s proving, once again, that she’s more than just a triple threat. She’s also a quadruple threat when you count her ability to give us all the feels, even during a crisis. Stay safe out there, Jenny!
