The king of drama himself, Jax Taylor, is finally breaking his silence after a little staycation—not at a luxury resort, but at an in-patient mental health treatment center. Yep, the man who brought us countless Vanderpump Rules meltdowns and enough eyebrow-raising moments to fill a stadium has taken some time for himself. And not in the “I’m getting Botox and chillin’ by the pool” kind of way, but the “time to face my inner demons” kind.
Rewind to July: Jax, age 45 and still holding onto that “bad boy” reputation with the vigor of a man clinging to his last hair transplant, checked himself into a mental health facility. No cameras, no drama (well, probably some drama), just Jax and his feelings. Fast forward a bit—he’s now back in West Hollywood, probably enjoying some overpriced matcha and contemplating life without a Bravo camera in his face 24/7.
On Monday, September 2, Jax turned to the modern-day confessional—Instagram, of course—where he opened up about what’s been going on in that famous Jax noggin. “A little over a month ago, I took the plunge into an inpatient treatment facility,” he wrote, likely while sipping a cold brew and pondering the mysteries of life (and his next podcast appearance). “I was scared. Scared of the unknown. Scared of what I’d discover about myself. Also scared they’d take my phone away.”
After years of suspecting something was a little off (I mean, anyone who’s watched the show could’ve told him that), Jax finally got the diagnosis: Bipolar Disorder and PTSD. And while some might feel overwhelmed, Jax decided to go full motivational speaker on us. “It’s been a lot to process—so many emotions—but hey, I came home to my son with a new sense of peace,” he said, undoubtedly wearing some designer sweatpants and flashing his signature smirk.
But wait—there’s more! “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared for the future,” Jax continued, as we all collectively nodded in agreement. “But hey, I’m just trying to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday.” Honestly, this is giving major Shia LaBeouf “Just Do It” vibes, and I’m here for it. He also threw in a shout-out to everyone who slid into his DMs with support. “Your messages have helped me more than you know,” Jax said, because nothing says healing like inspirational quotes from strangers on the internet.
Oh, and in case you missed the memo, last week Jax’s estranged wife Brittany Cartwright officially filed for divorce. Yep, six months after their separation, it’s officially splitsville. But hey, if Jax can tackle his mental health, maybe divorce court will be a breeze.
Stay tuned for the next chapter in the saga of Jax Taylor: The Redemption Arc (hopefully).
