Jason Kelce just declared himself the reigning Queen of Christmas, and yes, that is something you thought you’d never hear.
On his latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Jason (the Philadelphia Eaglesโ ex-player and general all-around tall guy) took a moment to revel in the unexpected holiday โcoupโ of his cover duet with rock legend Stevie Nicks, titled โMaybe This Christmas.โ This unlikely tune hit No. 1 on the iTunes Holiday chart, dethroning Mariah Carey and her perennial classic, โAll I Want for Christmas Is You.โ
โYou know,โ Jason quipped, โIโve been hustling my whole life for thisโclimbing the ranks to become the Queen of Christmas, and now that Iโm hereโฆ honestly, itโs breathtaking.โ It was as if heโd climbed Santaโs ladder and planted his flag right at the top.
Jason, acknowledging he hit this victory โin early November,โ admitted it might just be a fluke. โLook, we caught that early-Christmas playlist sweet spot,โ he said. โNot a ton of people are blasting โJingle Bellsโ in the gym yet, so we managed to sneak in there. But hey, Iโll take it! Iโm basically a holiday icon now,โ he laughed, with the confidence of someone who truly believes he could slay in a red velvet gown.
As for working with the Stevie Nicks? Jason was still in disbelief. โI mean, Iโm a guy whoโs spent most of his life in cleats, and now here I am, singing duets with Stevie. Unreal. There is literally zero chance that a song with my voice on it should ever be number one anywhere.โ
Jasonโs brother and co-host, Travis Kelce, chimed in to keep him grounded, pointing out, โLetโs not give you too much credit. Stevie Nicks did the heavy lifting here, Queen Kelce.โ
โFair point, fair point,โ Jason admitted, laughing. โIโll settle for being โPrincess Christmasโ if that makes you feel better, Travis.โ
At this rate, itโs only a matter of time before Jason tries to convince us heโs putting out a solo album.
